3 Wheeler Buggies
A three-wheeled buggy is ideal for off-roading and provides an easy ride for babies. They are also easier to push and manoeuvre than a four wheel buggy especially those equipped with slings made of fabric or modular seat units, which are placed in a tight position within the frame to provide the best geometry and distribution of weight.

A tri-wheeled pram is a great choice for those who run or like to walk fast uphill. This is particularly true if you are planning to attach a car seat or carrycot. Weight
If you're looking for a vehicle that can handle difficult terrain, you need one with large wheels. They will be able to handle cobbles, grass and dirt tracks and provide the smoothest ride for all passengers. They are also great for jogging because they have built-in suspension and are able to climb up and down kerbs. However, the downside is that they can be quite heavy to push.
The most suitable 3 wheel buggy for rough terrain is the Mountain Buggy Urban Glide 2 (pictured above). Fabric slings are set inside the frame, not on top like modular seats. This style has a lower centre-of-gravity at the ideal height. It is simpler to push, and lighter to kerb pop (you cannot underestimate how many times you'll need to do that as a brand new parent!).
Seating
The capacity for 3 wheelers is impressive and there are many different options to choose from. The included carrycot plus is ideal for a newborn (which MFM reviewer Alice describes as a cozy and comfortable lying-flat bed that can be used both on and off the buggy). Older children and toddlers will appreciate the spacious and padded seat unit that has adjustable ventilation. It is important to note that the seats don't recline fully however they can be lowered to the lowest position which should still give your child plenty of headroom and space to move around.
A sling seat made of cloth is also available. It offers the advantage of being placed snugly within the frame instead of sitting on top as the modular seat. This gives a lower centre of gravity and a perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier to push, particularly over bumpy terrain and curbs. MFM reviewer Kath liked the way this type of seat handled the obstacles.
This type of buggy comes with an enormous basket, along with other beneficial features like an hood that can be extended with 50+ UV protection, an easy to use brake pedal and some unique visibility lights that can be placed in front of the occupants for improved safety on difficult terrain.

The 3-wheeled frame makes a buggy more stable and sturdy to push one-handed, and it's also great for handling difficult terrain. However, it does mean that the basket won't hold the same amount as a 4-wheeled buggy.
A high-quality ATP will feature pneumatic tyres, a cushioned grip for better comfort, and an excellent suspension. It should be able to accommodate a carrycot or a car seat, which means you can use it from the time of birth.
MFM's reviewers discovered that the 3-wheeler frame didn't fit through their home doors or car boot. If you're worried about space, be sure to verify the dimensions when the buggy is folded before purchasing.

Tyres

They can be difficult to maintain and will require having their air pressure regularly topped up. They are also more susceptible to punctures than foam tyres so it is essential that you have a repair kit, spare inner tube and pump handy when out and about with your buggy.
PU tyres can be found on more pushchairs than air-filled tyres, but they're just as sturdy. PU tires are easily distinguished by their matte finish and soft feel. They also slide across smooth and tidy surfaces.
